Questions about the numbers

How is landed cost calculated?
FOB price × quantity, plus ocean freight and insurance gives the CIF value. Import duty is charged on CIF; excise (where it exists) on CIF plus duty; VAT on everything above. Port handling, broker fees and inland transport are added last. Divided by the number of units, that is your landed cost per bike.
Are the duty and VAT rates accurate?
They are planning defaults we review periodically, not a ruling. Rates depend on the exact HS subheading, displacement, whether the bike is assembled or a kit, and trade-agreement eligibility. Every field is editable — put in the figure your customs broker gives you.
Why does freight per bike look high?
Because you are shipping one model in a container that is not full. A real mixed container fills the rest of the space with other models and a parts kit, so the same freight is spread over more units. Use the container estimator to plan the whole box.
Is VAT a cost?
For a VAT-registered dealer, import VAT is usually recoverable against the VAT you charge on sales, so the retail helper computes margin on the ex-VAT landed cost. If you are not registered, treat the VAT-inclusive figure as your cost.
