Engine questions
- What engine is in most Chinese 450 dirt bikes?
- The Zongshen NC450 (ZS194MQ): 449 cc, 94.5 × 64 mm, DOHC 4-valve, liquid-cooled single with a balance shaft, rated by Zongshen at 30 kW at 8,000 rpm and 37 Nm at 7,000 rpm. KEWS, Bosuer and most Chongqing tier-2 enduro and rally 450s use it.
- Is the Zongshen NC450 reliable?
- It is the most-produced Chinese 450 single and has the deepest parts and mechanic support of any Chinese off-road engine. Specify the EFI version, run the break-in and first oil change properly, and it is a known quantity. See the platform manual for intervals and torque values.
- How does the NC450 compare with the CFMOTO 450 twin?
- Different classes: the CFMOTO is a 270° parallel twin (72 × 55.2 mm, ≈32.8 kW) built for road and adventure smoothness; the NC450 is a single built for off-road weight and simplicity. The twin is only available inside CFMOTO products, which are distributor-locked; the NC450 is available to any plant.
- Do Chongqing engines meet European standards?
- Loncin has built BMW’s G310 single since 2016, and several Chongqing engine families carry Euro 5-equivalent domestic certification. That does not replace type approval in your market; see the homologation guide.
